8/20/19:  Welcome back to school Knob Hill! It was great seeing all of your happy faces ready for the new school year. Library will be reopening in mid-September. We've been a bit delayed by the install of new furniture but trust me when I say that it will be worth the wait!

6/12/19:
Happy Last Day of School Hawks! Remember to keep reading, and I will see you in the fall.

5/24/19:
To make things even more exciting in the library, Knob Hill has also been given a Carson Scholars Reading Room grant!

"The Reading Project is dedicated to combating illiteracy and promoting leisure reading as a key to unlocking a child’s potential. Each room is filled with hundreds of books for students to explore from a variety of authors, topics, and genres. The Reading Room is decorated with attractive, eye-catching artwork based on Dr. Carson’s THINK BIG philosophy. The cozy environment encourages students and their families to come together to recognize the importance of reading."

The grand opening of the space will take place in Fall 2019. Stay tuned!

5/1/19:
Drumroll please..... Knob Hill Library is about to undergo a remodel! It is approximated to take 8-10 weeks to arrive but will be ready to go for the 2019-2020 school year. Here are the logistics of the process:

Phase 1: taking out the old desk completely, half of the back counter, patching up the walls and rewiring the electronics to the opposite wall, remove unnecessary tech outlets.

Phase 2: take the books off the shelving and move it away from the walls, remove the rubber molding and paint the walls and doors

Phase 3: new carpet and rubber molding

Phase 4: install new shelving

It will be a lot of work but by the time we're done it should look like a brand new library!

3/22/19:
Next week is our Spring Book Fair. It will be Dino-mite! Students will come during their regularly scheduled library time and are welcome to come before or after school.

2/4/19:  Mrs. Hammon and Miss Bliss have begun a monthly Makerspace! A makerspace is an area where students can gather to work on projects while sharing their ideas, equipment, and knowledge. We are starting out with just 4th and 5th graders but in the fall makerspace will be open to 1st-3rd grade as well. We meet once a month before school 7:45-8:30 AM.

1/28/19: This semester 2nd grader Max Almario began his coding club. Codespark meets Mondays and Thursdays before school 8:15-8:45 AM. The club is a great opportunity for students to problem solve and learn about coding in a game format.

10/22/18: Happy Red Ribbon Week! Students will be hearing stories this week about being brave, standing up for others, and making smart and healthy choices.

9/20/18: Our wonderful PTO has approved the remodel of our library! Stay tuned for details.

8/22/18: Mark your calendars! We will be having our Fall Book Fair Sept. 24-28th Monday through Friday. Come get a new book and help support your library.

8/20/18:The library will be opened to students on the second week of school starting August 27th. Student hours will still be every morning, 8:15-8:45 a.m. and 3:10-3:45 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school with an adult.

6/6/18: At the end of last school year we ordered over $10,000 worth of new books for the library! A special thanks to Mr. Trujillo for approving this purchase and getting new titles in the hands of our readers.
